Fatima's Miracle of Light

J.M.J. + O.B.T. + M.G.R.*

Just yesterday I recalled the "miracle of light" of my childhood—when my little sister was born on the day of the Great Northeast Blackout, November 9th, 1965. LIFE Magazine memorialized this event in what for me was one of its finest issues. The human interest stories of what people experienced when darkness enveloped so called "civilized man" are really worth pondering. As electric power was restored around dawn on the 10th, the Big Apple awakened from its TKO and everything was a little bit different...for the better.

The same type of metanoia happened at Fatima in 1917.

WE CIVILIZED HUMANS would do well to interpret the "signs of the times," for if we go on killing the "miracles of light" and offering them up to the gods of convenience, or prosperity, or lifestyle choice, we will be doomed... Impure and simple.

We must repent and change our ways. What better first step is there than to open our hearts to the Mother of God (for you Protestants, strike the word God and insert Jesus Christ), the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Sincerely yours in Jesus and Mary,
