Fu Jen University...A home away from home
The thought of going to Taiwan, China
to bring this work "to the next level"
is intriguing, especially because my son,
John has a great interest in the Far East.
While serving a short stint
as Headquarters Commandant
of the 7th ID (Light) at Ft. Ord,
I recall hosting two ROC Generals
to a very low key dinner
at a little French Restaurant
in Monterey, California.
That was less than two years
after Saint John Paul II's visit
and my Waterloo moment
a career bridge-burning
decision that played out as
we were deployed to fight a wild
fire in the Siskiyou National Forest.
We were the Wolfhounds
B Company, 2/27th Inf Regiment
We were Light, Silent and Deadly
Fort Ord is all but gone now.
I wonder if the restaurant is still there.
This university was home to
John Cheng Wai-Leung
who has worked on a
Theology of Energy
which dovetails very closely
with my own work
in the vineyard
It is a fascinating study
of what the future might
still bring to light.
I hope he is still alive.
Sincerely yours in Jesus through Mary,
Mike Rizzio
