God and Scientist?
My take on an illustration in The Economist, March 22, 2008

Where angels no longer fear to tread http://www.economist.com/science/displaystory.cfm?story_id=10875666
is a troubling article that reveals how scientists are putting "religious people" under the microscope to see why they believe in God. Don't we see how far reality is being distorted by activities such as this? It is as if believers are abnormal and in need of psychoanalysis and some mind-altering drug to straighten us out. The mere mention of such a study makes the Owellian hairs on my neck bristle.
This evolution-based empirical approach is the exact opposite of what is needed. It will do nothing to reconcile the apparent contradictions between faith and science/faith and reason. However, it will lead to a redefinition of faith in scientific terms that will spawn all sorts of laboratory experiments on the 21st Century's guinea pigs.
Would we expect anything less in this decadent age were King Science rules supreme?
Remembering a haunting song from my youth in the 60's...
Entitled Shades of Gray it includes the lines:
We had never lived with doubt or tasted fear.
It was easy then to tell truth from lies
Selling out from compromise
Who to love and who to hate,
The foolish from the wise.
But today there is no day or night
Today there is no dark or light.
Today there is no black or white,
Only shades of gray.
YOUTUBE
Curiously it was The Monkees, who sang it.
We must pray for the Light to shine
and dispel the darkness.
Sincerely yours in Jesus and Mary,
