It boils down to the relationship between matter and spirit: either God, through His Holy Spirit can sanctify and elevate matter, truly enabling it to bear fruit, or He can’t. Creation either gives its Creator praise or not. If God has nothing to do with matter, then as per Benedict XVI in “Jesus of Nazareth: the Infancy Narratives,” He’s not really God. If “nothing is impossible for God,” who are we to restrict His action to our limited and feeble human imaginations?
