Now a day many people, even Christians, confuse things that are holy for things that are profane. This article is to remind us about the rainbow, and what it really stands for. In our culture, the rainbow is associated with the homosexual and lesbian movement. This is false. The rainbow is the Lord’s alone! The rainbow has no earthly origin. The rainbow is a token of covenant. Covenant relationships are seed or fruit bearing, however gay relationships cannot produce children. If they can’t produce children, what in the world makes people think they can parent them? There are some men and woman who can’t have children do to medical complications. I am not saying that they shouldn’t be able to adopt, they should and with Jesus they will be great parents to the fatherless. However same sex couples cannot manage something they don’t have the potential to create. We live in a society that calls good evil and evil good. We live is a society that calls the truth hate speech. A modern day Prophet named Flip Benham says this, “truth is only hate to those who hate the truth.” I agree, and couldn’t have said it better myself. God in this hour is raising up voices in the wilderness, to make straight the crooked paths. A crooked path cannot be made straight until first someone acknowledges that it is crooked.

The rainbow was first mentioned in the book of Genesis. Initially it wasn’t even called the rainbow, it was called “my bow” according to Genesis 9:13 KJVER,  “I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of covenant between me and the earth.” God made a covenant from heaven towards the earth, sounds like Jesus huh? God is the one who established this covenant and the bow was his idea. It is a heavenly sign that makes the covenant visible to the earth. This covenant is an everlasting covenant. Something interesting about God is that all his covenants are like him, everlasting. One of the languages God speaks is Covenant. Both God’s Kingdom and his Covenants are everlasting. So let’s look deeper into the bow that scriptures call “my bow” in its first appearance.

Ezekiel has visions of God and here is one of the things he sees, Ezekiel 1:26-28 KJV “And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.” We will focus on what is in bold print. Ezekiel is seeing a rainbow surrounding the Glorified Jesus in timeless eternity. When he saw the Lord and the token of covenant that surrounds him he fell on his face. I want us to recognize that this rainbow is directly emanating off the Glorified Jesus. If we disconnect this rainbow from Jesus then we are not Biblically correct because in Genesis 9:13 he calls it “my bow.” Ezekiel gets to see what God literally said to Noah. This is amazing, God puts language to it when he said, “see, ye the Word of the Lord” in Jeremiah 2:31.

If we disconnect the rainbow from Jesus, who calls it his, we can lose the real value and meaning of it. Many times when something loses its meaning it get’s redefined. This is exactly what happened. We see this same reality in other areas of society. For example, churches that closed down have become bars. The building lost its value and then it was redefined for something it was never created to be. This is how something Holy, such as a token of covenant, has become a symbol of a homosexual movement that is against God to the highest extent. God’s first commandment in the Bible was “be fruitful and multiply.” Obviously this is not possible when there are two people of the same sex in a relationship. Anything that causes you to blatantly disobey God is obviously not of, or from, God.

Let’s look deeper into the rainbow. We have learned that the Rainbow has no earthly origin, which is why it was first called “my bow”. Revelation 4:3-5 KJVER “And He that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like to an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats: I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.” We will focus on what is around the throne and what is before the throne. Before the throne you have seven lamps, lamps give off light. Around the throne you have a rainbow. Rainbows have seven colors they are as follows, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. These burning lamps are the seven Spirits of God; they give off light and create a rainbow that was originally called “my bow”. Here we see why they are called my bow. They are directly attached to God’s seven Spirits; the lamps before the throne create the light around the throne.

There was a progressive revelation of the Glorified Jesus and the rainbow from Ezekiel 1 to Revelation 4. In Revelation 4 we learn that the lamps before the throne show us why we see the rainbow above and around the throne. The token of covenant is directly in front of the one who made the covenant with us by offering himself. Jesus is our covenant, and the token of covenant is “his bow”. We see the bow in the sky, but its origin is before his throne. Jesus told us to pray on earth as it is in heaven. One of the answers to the prayer “on earth as it is in heaven”, is the rainbow appearing in the clouds because it appears above the throne. The seven spirits of God are manifested in seven burning lamps, which is interesting because the same man who saw this said in 1 John 1:5 “God is light and in him there is no darkness at all”. If we abide in him, he will open the eyes of our understanding so we can have spiritual understanding. Remember friend that satan is familiar with God’s throne room, and he wants to twist the most sacred thing in there. In this generation one of the most, if not the most sacred symbols, has been redefined by the wicked, because the righteous have been silent.

We cannot allow our minds to be darkened by satan. When a mind is alienated  from God it is sure to be darkened, because God is light and in him there is no darkness. God defined the rainbow as my bow and a token of covenant, and that is what it will always be. When God defines something it can’t be redefined, because God is never wrong. God does know everything, but he doesn’t know how to be wrong. God can do everything but lie because he is the truth. If people try to redefine anything that God has defined they are only deceiving themselves. This same truth is a visible reality when it comes to marriage. The society we live in is actively trying to redefine marriage, the problem is they didn’t define marriage in the first place; therefore they don’t have the authority to redefine something that was not defined by them. All the people who are tying to redefine marriage did not come from the fruit of a same sex relationship, but from the fruit of a man and a woman relationship. People are trying to redefine something that created them in the first place. Humans trying to redefine marriage are like a dog trying to rename his master. Lots of people are for same sex relationships; well if it wasn’t for a man and woman relationship they wouldn’t even have to opportunity to be an advocate of wickedness. Whether state or federal government redefines marriage or not, in God’s eyes it has already been defined once and for all.

Recently I was in Trenton, New Jersey at a marriage rally where righteous people were showing up to say to the state legislators “we want marriage to be exclusively between one man and one woman.” The people there were merely agreeing with God, this is only our reasonable service. There was a woman with a sign that said, “I am a Christian and I a support gay marriage.” In reality she can’t be a Christian and support what God calls an abomination. God loves gay people so much he gave Jesus to purchase them back from this perverse lifestyle. Just one generation ago sodomy was illegal, and if my memory serve me correctly it was a federal offense. Now gay couples can adopt children. The church in this hour needs to repent for being silent, and preach the gospel. All this perversion is simply a cry from society, and here is what they are saying “is there a God? Does he love me? Is he good?” They need the good news of Jesus. Friends, we can’t allow the world to die of thirst while we just play church.

The moral of this little story is simply don’t look at the rainbow as a symbol of perversion, but as a token of covenant. Please, we must open our eyes to a society that is thirstier for Jesus than they even know. Every time we choose to be silent about the truth, lies continue to prevail! I pray in Jesus name, that we would receive enough courage to tell the truth, and that we would love enough to live it out.
