Living Eucharist...A really close match

J.M.J. + O.B.T. + M.G.R.*

Fr. George W. Kosicki, C.S.B.

Look at the above image very closely. Double-click it to get more detail.  Fr. George W. Kosicki, C.S.B. a holy and respected priest of the Congregation of St. Basil no doubt loves the Holy Eucharist for he is a zealous apostle of Divine Mercy. He published this short forty-four page book in 1997. Based on some of his letters to Vinny and Donna Flynn from 1990-1991, it is worth pondering.

Living Eucharist
Counter-Sign to Our Age
and Answer to Crisis

Did you notice the formula at the center of image?

E=mh2

Hmmm, what is the Father trying to tell us?

I will leave out the answer and just describe his search, as I present the following passage:

Chapter XV. THE SPIRITUAL ENERGY OF THE EUCHARIST.

January 15, 1991

May the Lord fill you with His radiant presence.

I have been searching for a spiritual-biochemical equation for the Eucharist. Of course, I’m aware that you can’t describe the Eucharist by an equation, but I’ve had an inner urge to keep searching for an equation that would help describe the various dimensions of the Eucharist and help us to remember them. This week, in prayer, I’ve come up with an equation for the spiritual energy of the Eucharist! It has been an exciting insight for me and so I went to share it.

As you may know the great equation for physical energy was the product of the insight of Albert Einstein. He proposes that energy and matter are interconvertible and when matter is converted into energy there is a tremendous release of energy, He described this conversion in the simple equation:
e=mc2

That is, energy (e) is equal to the mass of matter (m) multiplied by the speed of light twice. His theoretical equation was proved correct in the first atomic bomb: matter was converted into explosive energy! This is physical energy.

Is there a spiritual energy?

[I omitted text here to make my point, in what follows this is indicated by …]

He [St. Thomas Aquinas] is saying that God’s spiritual energy is greater than His physical energy of creation. So the search for an equation of spiritual energy became even more significant to me.

And Eureka, I think I’ve found such an equation.  It describes the conversion…into the radiant energy of the Eucharist.

It radiates spiritual energy!

We need to take extended time before the Eucharist for Radiation Therapy”.

Another way that we can be transformed by the spiritual energy of the Eucharist is by “gazing” upon the radiant presence of the Lord. This gazing is perceiving with the eyes of faith, the true spiritual beauty before us.

The great moment of transformation takes place when we receive the Eucharist, this spiritual radiant energy, in Holy Communion. We receive the Body and Blood Soul and Divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ under the appearance of bread and wine, but transformed by the Holy Spirit.

We are challenged and called to be living Eucharist, so that all who see our light (Mt 5:14-17) may give glory to God; that seeing the radiance of God’s mercy in us, all may be confronted by the sign of contradiction to our age and see the answer to our crisis in the Church and world.
We should thank Father George
for his witness of the spiritual energy
of the Eucharist

Sincerely yours in Jesus and Mary,
Mike Rizzio
