I've Just Seen a Face...Bellini...you almost did it

BELLINI, Giovanni
Madonna and Child c. 1455
Tempera on panel, 72 x 46 cm
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

J.M.J. + O.B.T. + M.G.R.*

The search continues...

What does the face of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity look like?

A few points of reference:

It may be Mary from the Annunciation to the Assumption (Age 15-60?)

It must reflect humility

It must have half-closed eyes

It must appeal to all people for all time.

It must be confidently aware that the TRINITY is radiating from her Immaculate Heart.

Oh, and one more thing...the face must be beautiful.

IMPOSSIBLE?

We in the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity have been trying for 50 years now and it still seems just beyond our reach. And Thank God it is!

Sincerely yours in Jesus and Mary,
