Sicily a true crossroads of civilization:

Maybe it is a latent Byzantine rite gene that is spurring me on
in this effort to try and connect the pieces of this puzzle.

Maybe it is the thundering Etna (the furnace of Hephaestus/Vulcan),
that stands like a smouldering sentinel and blocks direct connections

from Cerami (my ancestoral home city) to Messina.

Charybdis (the whirlpool) in the Strait of Messina
(my paternal grandmother's maiden name) to guard
against an attempted unification.
